The Solar "SKYLITE"TM Water Heater

"The innovative solar "SKYLITE" water heater is a real breakthrough in architectural enhancements."
Fox Mill Estates Homeowners Association.

"We feel that the solar "SKYLITE" water heater has been one of our best investments. Not only to save money, but to help reduce our serious pollution problems."
Susan Arencibia (architect's wife)

"The installation went smoothly using common sense and a basic ability to do plumbing and simple electrical work. I think that anyone with a little knowledge could easily install a system."
Jack Myers (do-it-yourselfer)

Solar "SKYLITETM" Water Heaters for Hard Freeze Climates:

This attractive, skylight appearing, system features Al Rich's Patented solar "ball valve manifold" and Patented over temperature protection venting system. The Patented valve in conjunction with the use of extruded tube EPDM elastomer rubber in the collector allow for a completely freeze damage proof solar system. Low cost variations of this product can meet the needs of massive space and water heating markets worldwide where freeze damage proof systems are needed. Other features include light weight, ease of installation and unbreakable glazing.

“SKYLITE UP44T SUNSAVER” Storage System

Developed by Al Rich with a $100,000 US Department of Energy (DOE) Energy Related Inventions (ERIP) Grant:

This storage system, designed for complete freeze protection, has excellent thermal storage efficiency. It combines the storage tank with the drainback tank and uses a load side heat exchanger interconnected via a passive thermosyphoning loop with the existing tank which gets located on top of the UP44T (SUN SAVER) tank. The "UP44T" storage system is a major advance in the packaging of solar storage systems and can be enclosed (cocooned) to have a finished appliance appearance. All heat can be literally trapped inside the "SUN $AVER" Cocoon for dramatically reduced heat loss. It is proposed that, in volume production, the storage tank and walls can be made out of recycled materials for the lowest cost storage system available.

"SKYLITE Islander", PV Powered Systems for Non-Freeze & Light Freeze Climates:

These lightweight, attractive systems are powerful performers and can be custom tailored to the needs of specific areas where lightweight designs are desirable. There are many areas in the world where corrosion of copper is a big problem and this system can be configured with a high pressure plastic absorber which is 100% corrosion proof. It is run by a state of the art electronic pump, with no moving motor parts, which is powered by a small low cost Photovoltaic panel.
