2008 MARKS BIG YEAR FOR SOLAR

CONFERENCES IN SAN DIEGO

San Diego has been a hot attraction in 2008 for big solar conferences that feature speakers from top companies in the solar industry. In May a record crowd attended the American Solar Energy Society's 37th Annual Solar Conference called "Solar 2008." Coming up in October will be another grand event

presented by Solar Electric Power Association and Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) called "Solar Power Conference and Expo" or simply "Solar Power 2008." These conferences offer industry insight, trends and job opportunities.

The ASES event May 3-8 was a huge event, drawing over 4,600 registered attendees. This turnout more than doubled last year's

"Solar 2007" in Cleveland, which attracted over 1,800 people and

the previous year's "Solar 2006" in Denver which also drew more than 1,800 people. Next year's "Solar 2009" will be held in Buffalo, NY.

This year's theme was "Catch the Clean Energy Wave" at Town and Country Resort and Convention Center. The ASES event is America's longest running national solar conference. This year's conference featured Senator Gary Hart, Chris Paine (Director of Who Killed the Electric Car?) and top name executives from SunPower, SunEdison, the California Solar Initiative and over 175 of the world's leading solar experts.

The other big conference, Solar Power 2008, will be held during San Diego's "Solar Week" October 13-16 at San Diego Conven-

tion Center. It will exhibit over 400 companies.
